Tiki: Fri Oct 27, 06 at 12:16:38 AM (EDT) - akageorge

Good to hear you made it back home safe and sound. I must again apologize for not seeing you this last trip. Not going to far after this move, but who knows, a change of scenery might be needed next year and Lake George might be the ticket.

I am so frickin amazed at the quality of the QuickTime video I am creating (as in taking DVD content and transforming it to QT for web viewing) via Tiger (MAC OS) and my G5. Check out This (link is at bottom of page). What was once 650 MB is now 33 MB - with 32 kHz audio. I believe most the software I used was freeware, but some may need a few $ sent out. (I love trial periods!!!)

akageorge: Mon Oct 23, 06 at 07:43:02 PM (EDT) - home again

Hey, Jones! The reunion not only happened, it was happenin'! Nicole just took the wrong freeway.

Tiki -- which CDs did you digitize?

It's cold here. It was cold there, but it's REALLY cold here. I don't like it when I go out with a nice warm coat on, and my FACE gets cold. Brrr. Only 5-1/2 more months of this to go ...

Tiki: Tue Oct 17, 06 at 10:50:57 PM (EDT) - All of my CDs are packed... :(

Put a few of them into my iTunes area of my computer...

Last np: Spanish Moon - Little feat

np: Two Angels - JayHawks

Tiki: Tue Oct 17, 06 at 10:45:50 PM (EDT) - Radio Jones

Hey Bro

Good to hear that Pappy & Harriet’s is still rockin'. Not sure if you caught this... But I am the Webmaster for Town of Yucca Valley. Long story.

Hmmmm, have to do (A MUST) something very close (younder to the old Nude Bowl area and get some holy dirt and loose crete before I move.

Looks like a Sunday trip... Keep in touch.

Jones (you know the one): Tue Oct 17, 06 at 05:09:17 PM (EDT) - A faint cry from the darkness of the past

Yo, people. The lovely dr.drea reminded me of the URL here, so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. She hinted that there might have been some reunion in the works for this past weekend (though it sounds, if I'm interpreting Nicole post correctly, like maybe it didn't happen). In any case I could not have attended, as I was in charge of -- count 'em -- three kids all weekend and I think it would have been most ungainly to drag them to the Rib Trader.

Actually, I was hoping I might run into one or more of you at Gramfest a few weeks ago. It was the first one I had ever attended and it was pretty great. Also, took some time out for the Thrift Store All-Stars show (featuring Victoria Williams, Tim Easton, and a slew of other high desert superstars) at Pappy & Harriet's that weekend. If you haven't been to Pappy's, I highly recommend it, especially on Sunday evenings, when the All-Stars are the regular house band.

Seeing the Pogues tomorrow night at the Wiltern, and keeping my fingers crossed that Shane has some small measure of wits about him.

Keep it real, y'all. I'll check back in from time to time.

Nicole Sandler: Sun Oct 15, 06 at 06:10:36 PM (EDT) - I waited, my love

all evening at the Rib Trader, but you never appeared.

RTE: Sun Oct 15, 06 at 04:47:27 PM (EDT) - It was too cool...

...seeing the lovely akageorge, Dr. Larry, Thomas, Bill, Ben & Marilyn and Don & Sandy. Everybody/anybody else ? Unable to cope, I reckon.

Tiki: Sat Oct 14, 06 at 10:42:16 PM (EDT) - And prolly going to flake

Just got back from a once in a life time deal to get our surf boards into boxes, so we ran... Sorry, hope all had a good time.

Tiki: Sat Oct 14, 06 at 01:35:17 PM (EDT) - RTE

We plan on showing up around 7

Ribs!!!!

RTE: Sat Oct 14, 06 at 12:48:04 PM (EDT) - Okay...

...so that's 4 people if I include Nicole.

NS: Sat Oct 14, 06 at 01:28:59 AM (EDT) - RTE

BTW, don't forget that $50 you owe me.

Nicole Sandler: Fri Oct 13, 06 at 11:34:54 PM (EDT) - Love to love ya baybee

You betcha, RTE, I'll always regret the way I used and abused you. Please can we try again? But no tongue. NO TONGUE!

akageorge: Fri Oct 13, 06 at 06:23:09 PM (EDT) - Rib Joint

Count three for Sandy, HoS and me. Should we make reservations, or do we have a block of tables?

RTE: Fri Oct 13, 06 at 12:47:04 PM (EDT) - As for show-up time....

...I'll be rolling in about 7:15ish for setting up gear.

RTE: Fri Oct 13, 06 at 12:45:35 PM (EDT) - Hey...

Any idea on how many are actually showing up ? ACME ? Thomas More ? Nicole Sandler ? (As I KNOW she not only wants to see me...she NEEDS to see me.) I'll have an extra guitar there in case anyone would like to sit in.

Tiki: Thu Oct 12, 06 at 08:52:40 PM (EDT) - A night of Scott Sechman, Yellow Rumours and Party Fun

So what time do we all need to show up?

Saturday October 14, 2006
Rib Joint Roadhouse
34294 Coast Hwy
Dana Point, CA 92629
(949) 661-9500

akageorge: Wed Oct 11, 06 at 02:55:04 AM (EDT) - Does the West Coast feel heavier?

I am here! Hope I don't unbalance the continent and cause an earthquake. It always worked in reverse when I lived here -- when I would go back East for a visit, there would be an earthquake here.

S and HOS may be there Saturday. Hooray!

I'll check in later. Must sleep.

akageorge: Tue Oct 10, 06 at 04:44:50 AM (EDT) - Headed for the airport ...

... in just a little over an hour. See y'all soon!

Tiki : Sat Oct 7, 06 at 10:04:53 PM (EDT) - My NP:

Little Feat / Waiting for Columbus / Oh Atlanta

Tiki Penguin: Sat Oct 7, 06 at 09:37:37 PM (EDT) - Boxing up stuff takes time

np: The Gun Club, Album - Miami, Song - Mother Of Earth

jakbeni: Fri Oct 6, 06 at 07:50:02 PM (EDT) - Music This weekend

Tonight I'm off to see Johnny Lang at the House of Blues - Sunset and tomorrow I'm off to the first annual LA Weekly Detour Music Festival downtown headlining Beck and Queens of the Stone Age. Seen Beck before, but never seen Queens of the Stone Age, son they get higher priority. Should be fun.

akageorge: Fri Oct 6, 06 at 03:57:12 PM (EDT) - np: Nickel Creek, This Side

I keep hearing songs I like in overnight rotations with all this cool pickin' and fiddlin' but not real country ... come to find out it's these guys.

I e'd Emma Peel about the weekend. I'm getting right down to the wire here, still have to pack and all that. Proofreading the Fort Ann history book today and tomorrow, so I hope that will be all done by Sunday. Oh, and the week after I get back, I start a tryout for a new job (combining two editorships, an experiment for the paper). So a lot to do right now! But all good.

Tiki: Fri Oct 6, 06 at 12:48:21 AM (EDT) - RTE

Well that is a good thing ;)

What about Sandy and HoS?

My e to BlueRose did not bounce, maybe sorta?

Anyone get a hold of SRF or RJ? hmmmm, coming up to a week away. Come on folks, our last chance to party on last time.

RTE: Thu Oct 5, 06 at 02:07:03 PM (EDT) - dr. drea

There were also some porn links in my Google search. Thankfully, they had nothing to do with dr. drea.

RTE: Thu Oct 5, 06 at 01:21:57 PM (EDT) - dr. drea

There were also some porn links in my Google search. Thankfully, they had nothing to do with dr. drea.

RTE: Thu Oct 5, 06 at 01:12:21 PM (EDT) - It sure would be nice...

...to see the good Doctor again. Last I remember she was in San Diego working at a big entertainment firm (TBA). I googled her and found an interview segment from '02. I think TBA was sold since then.

RTE: Thu Oct 5, 06 at 01:03:49 PM (EDT) - Thomas

Not the same venue. The '90s venue was the Rib TRADER. The Rib Joint is an old, old roadhouse rib place in Dana Point. The Rib Trader is in San Clemente.

Thomas More: Tue Oct 3, 06 at 05:43:10 PM (EDT) - Party?

Oops! Bad Thomas! No jumping on couches here.

Thomas More: Tue Oct 3, 06 at 05:35:41 PM (EDT) - Party?

Shucks! There was supposed to be a "p" code before RTE. Well, at least I didn't blink the whole page. RTE did that once.

I've alerted Yonko (taopagan). He's either in Topanga or Michigan, but I'm hoping he can make it to the reunion. My email to the last address I had for dr drea bounced.

Thomas More: Tue Oct 3, 06 at 05:29:50 PM (EDT) - PARTY?

Did Somebody say PARTY? RTE: Is this the same rib joint where you played back in the 90s?

(I didn't think we'd be saying "back in the 90s" so soon!)

Is this one of them deja vus again? I suppose I'll have to give akaGeorge a ride.

RTE: Mon Oct 2, 06 at 11:56:45 AM (EDT) - Rib Joint Capacity

I'd guess the seating capacity at the Rib Joint is 60 or so inside that includes booths, tables and the bar. They have a patio, as well. Salad bar for vegetarians.

I'd guess it would handle us all without a problem.

Tiki: Sun Oct 1, 06 at 09:05:17 PM (EDT) - The U Haul Box Store

Well, Frog came over and read us the riot act. So Today we went and bought a whole bunch of boxes. Time to box up my records (12X12) and CDs (sigh). So I have started. May not be able to bounce in the next week as much as I would like. But you can always call us at GP (hit that little penguin on the upper right end to get our biz number). Please clue other folks who might be into this get together, that I can not. I can say it is my guess that you will either be there or you will not. I myself miss all of you. Iwish I could write something snazzy about how much we all ment to each other back in the day. But I can not. You would think I would use paragraph breaks by now. Maybe now

This is a good thing. Hope to see as many of you who can make it, there. Night all. Night moon.

Tiki: Sun Oct 1, 06 at 07:42:13 PM (EDT) - typing to fast

I ment ACME! Geesh, not like I have posted here in a while. My fingers are out of wack.

Dang it! Did I miss it? Now Playing: Bob Dylan "Modern Times" 2006

tea (aka Mrs. Dr.): Sun Oct 1, 06 at 03:03:04 AM (EDT) - reunion r us

Looks like the good Dr. Larry & I will be making it. It was iffy for a bit. The short film I produced last year has taken the festival circuit by storm. We had our world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in April, and we've just been picked up for our 8th festival; this one plays at Grauman's Chinese (well, Mann's Chinese these days) on the 12th, with the closing awards ceremony & wrap party on the 13th, which was originally scheduled for the 14th. I guess they heard about our plans to gather some "oldies but goodies" and figured they'd better change the plans of 175 visiting filmmakers! It'll be one busy week for me, but we're up for it! Honey, I'll give you a ride ;)

Tiki: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 10:35:33 PM (EDT) - jakbeni

Back in the day when I worked on cars, I had no choice but to listen to KZLA... Have to admit, always did like Mr Eddie Rabbit... Have fun at Johhny Rivers.

jakbeni: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 09:34:11 PM (EDT) - Secret Agent Man

On my way out to see Johnny Rivers at the Grove of Anaheim. Later.

jakbeni: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 09:29:50 PM (EDT) - Hey folks. Back from the dead

It was interesting to read Tiki's post about KZLA. Wasn't a listener, but was kinda shocking to hear that LA no longer has a full time country station. Glad to see Indie is still hanging in there despite low arbitron ratings (almost near the bottom). But they do have a decent internet audience and which I'm sure helps. They did get voted internet radio station of the year by some group and I sent my Radio and Internet Newsletter notice I got to them and they appreciated the feedback. Although Indie does do a few boneheaded things in my opinion (e.g. don't know why they have dance music programs on Friday and Saturday night and therby alienating their core audience on the 2 prime listening nights of the week). But its cool hearing Steve Jones and Joe Escondido and Cha Cha and good to get the variety on my car radio.

Tiki: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 08:30:05 PM (EDT) - RTE

So how big is this joint? Not that I think there will be more than a few of us bouncing over. But ya never know.

Letting you give Sandy and HoS a heads up.

TM: have you got in touch with ACME?

The rest of ya, have been sent e's (those I could find). Need some help here.

Tiki: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 08:20:51 PM (EDT) - Just a quick bounce

USC is on TV - Fight On!

Sent out a few e's. Some bounced, some did not. I am trying my best to get a hold of BlueRose, Bro, you have to be out there!

Anyone know if dr. drea is still at tbaent.com? Looks like I am going to have to fire up an old computer to get RJ and KD's e-mail addy's... Oh well, trying hard to get in touch wit y'all. Last thing I want is for someone to think they were not invited. We get a hold of SRF, maybe stefan shows up. We get a hold of peggy, maybe someone else shows up. Zoey, maybe nancy. etc. Spread the word.

BTW: kyles Z-28 rocks!

akageorge: Sat Sep 30, 06 at 05:11:52 PM (EDT) - Dr. Larry

LTNS

Most of the archives - 1997 to 1999 (the good, the bad, and the UGLY) are there in that directory. I keep meaning to wipe them out, but for some reason, there they are. And I guess there they will stay. Might as well get Mary's archives and include them into the mix.

I upgraded to Quark 7. With what I have seen, I like. But with most of our clients still using 6.5 (and some still on 5) I have not been able to give it a full test drive.

Thomas More: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 07:52:11 PM (EDT) - m o kyle?

Hey bud; you still driving the bad orange punkin'?

Thomas More: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 07:46:51 PM (EDT) - Howdy y'all!

What's this I hear about a Yellowroom reunion? I never knew we'd been suceeded. Just because I gave up working and moved to Arizona doesn't mean I don't still wear my KSCA T-shirt on occasion, like recently when SCOTS played here in Phoenix.

Jeff Beck's performing here next week, but I'll be in California! Like John Mayall, Jeff is one of the artists that I worked for in the '70s that I would still enjoy hearing, live. I wonder if he still has that gravelly-voiced singer, whose name escapes me at the moment.

Oh, and next month Alice Cooper (who lives here) will be opening for the Rolling Stones in the huge new Cardinal's Stadium... oh, excuse me, the new University of Phoenix Stadium. These stadium and ballpark names are often ridicule-ous. The Cardinals, who used to play in the ASU's Sun Devils Stadium, finally got their own humoungous stadium with the entire (real grass) playing field on wheels so it can be rolled outside to get some sun! So what do they do? Sold the naming rights for a few million dollars.

The other bidder was Harry Morton, owner of The Pink Taco restaurants in Las Vegas and Scottsdale. That was voted down when someone noted the meaning of the Hispanic slang. Besides, the stadium looks more like a giant bagel than a taco or vulva.

So when's the hobnob? I will be in OC for a few days, maybe until the 15th of Oct. When is akaGeorge coming? BuddaJon & Diane are leaving for the deep South? Will Dr. Larry be catering?

Hi treehaus! Still practicing your craft, I see. I keep in touch with John DeBord, owner of Compact Monitor Systems, Jim Gamble of Gamble Boards, and a few other people I used to work with, but I don't miss the road tours.

mean ole kyle: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 07:13:28 PM (EDT) - stuff

a reunion, cool. will definitley have to show for this, it would be so good to see you folks after this last two years of crap!! put it together, i'll be there!! oh, tiki, got a newer bike..

treehaus: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 06:38:27 PM (EDT) - old and new

dust off my braincells as i read some of this yellow history.

wow, treehaus@loop.com, i forgot about the loop. i hope they did too by now.

i'm the hell in santa monica today - thank you for asking, tiki, nice site, by the way - but i'll be in st louis with ani difranco on 10/14. otherwise, it would be a hoot to see y'all.

RTE, akageorge and Steph are the only ones i've kept in sporadic contact with. and occasionally neen who's on the east coast with a husband and babies.

nice shot of bob wian's favorite son too.

re quark: apple's funky little "pages" does all i need in a diy world. and more easily that quark. i know, i know, it's different for real-world prepress and all. but the good news is; average folks with simple graphic needs no longer have to pay a cubic pantload of sheckels to keep upgrading a program that can't keep up with the world anyway.

anyhow, hi folks.

"try to remember peace" david

RTE: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 12:33:24 PM (EDT) - The Rib Joint...

...is a pretty small and rustic place. Making reservations might be helpful. Then again, I'm not sure they do that.

Oh...my new website:

www.sechman.com

RTE: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 12:30:15 PM (EDT) - Reunion ?!?!?!?

Well...I'm game. I'm sure Sandy & Don are too, but they're going to a cool free concert up in the Bay Area this weekend. They'll have to be notified when they return.

I can send ACME an E. Treehaus was on the road with CSNY in July and I'm not sure if he's available. Derek & Jeanelle have a new baby and I can E them at Derek's hotmail addy. He doesn't check it that often, but I'll direct him here. Thomas More and family are in Arizona.

I don't know the whereabouts of dr. drea, Nancy, Zoey or neen. I would imagine Jeff is still at Rhythm & Hues, though.

akageorge: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 01:31:36 AM (EDT) - sleepytime

Tiki, I left you a phone message but have been online for a while and have to go to bed -- I'm worn out. You can still reach me at yahoo. I'll be home and online tomorrow most of the day except when I'm out doing field research for a history book. G'night, former Rumours.

akageorge: Fri Sep 29, 06 at 01:29:46 AM (EDT) - wow ...

yeah, I barely knew you guys then. I was just lurking, I think. But it's a relief to get back to a white background -- my eyes are doing pinwheels!

Just got off the phone with mean ol kyle. He is up! Lets make this happen. I prolly lost 1/2 of our phone numbers, but will search. We can do this. Any one who has whoevers number, call them. Send them here. This would be nice. Logistics to follow...

LMAO, guess we need to include RTE in the plans. Would be a bit funny if all of us just bounced in to his gig.I can only imagine. Lets do it!

akageorge: Wed Sep 27, 06 at 11:59:06 PM (EDT) - Rib Joint reunion!

That would be way cool. I will be ready for some release by then. Count me in.

I'm thinking I might go down to San Diego for a couple of days, like Sunday night through Tuesday. (My plane doesn't leave until Tuesday evening.) I see a hostel in what appears to be a decent neighborhood ... any recommendations?

Tiki: Wed Sep 27, 06 at 11:03:14 PM (EDT) - tea

Happy to see you like it. I like it too. Whats up with Larry?

Tiki: Wed Sep 27, 06 at 10:45:53 PM (EDT) - akageorge

Sorry to hear about Brendan (a very nice guy I think we met at your going away party on Goat Hill, way back). For what ever the reason, I look forward to seeing you. Not sure if we can put you up, our place is becoming box city, but lunch is in order.

Well... What do you know... Seems ol Scott is playing at the Rib Joint Roadhouse (I found this out by clicking on his Gig Page).

I Guess we first have to decide if this date works. We have some time to spread the word. It would be nice to see some of the old YR rumors one more time. And thinking back in the day, I met so many of you for the first time at a Flying Blind gig. I am up for it!

So who else is up for this? Bluerose, Larry n tea, SRF, Sandy, Derek, david T (where the hell are you Mr. Reilly?) RJ, KD (where are you?) neen, Poogie, suz, kyle, etc... (sorry, I can not list everyone). BTW, where in the heck are 1/2 of ya... SNORT!

I will contact RTE in a few days once we decide on a date and see if he can add this thought to his web page.

akageorge: Wed Sep 27, 06 at 12:41:54 AM (EDT) - Aha!

Brilliant me. I checked Sechman's website and found out he's playing around a lot. I mean, he's out there. I mean, he's playing with Jamie. I mean ... Oh, anyhow, it looks like I'll get to hear the inimitable crooner at either Muldoon's or the Rib Joint. Anyone have plans?

akageorge: Wed Sep 27, 06 at 12:25:25 AM (EDT) - Heading your way

Some of you know my friend Brendan (the one with all the tattoos). Sad news -- he has two inoperable brain tumors and may live past the end of the year, or not. Anyhow, instead of flying out for a funeral, I'm trying to get to see him while he's still up and around. I'll be there Oct. 10-17.

I know this is kind of a bummer reason for a trip, but I'm still up for seeing any and all who will let me visit. I plan to be with Brendan 10th-13th, then will be open for whatever the rest of the time. Is Scott playing anywhere? Any other events I should know about? And yes, I could use a place to stay for a night or two. Kind of a last-minute trip, as you can understand.

tea (aka Mrs. Dr.): Sun Sep 24, 06 at 09:31:59 PM (EDT) - Virtual postcards

Hey Tiki, just a quick note to let you know the postcards are great! My neice (6 years old) fell in love with penguins when March of the Penguins hit last year, so I sent her one. She's gonna dig it.

Peace to you and your bride.

Tiki: Tue Sep 12, 06 at 11:08:09 PM (EDT) - Howzit Judi

Frog (my best friend) just visited your neck of the woods. I do believe he did the tour of Shipyard. As you may remember, he is related to folks near Gorham, ME.

He plans on buying a nice place somewhere around you in the next year. Looks like he has $ (yowzer). But will have to rent it out until he can retire.

I may go with him next year in the quest to buy, but if not, we have decided to visit each others places, once we move. Hahaha a yankee in Lower Alabama.

So yes Judi, I will be visiting you in the next year, maybe 2...

I want Lobster Rolls.. ;)

Shipyard won some national beer award recently. Glad you like our Maine beers. If you ever do make it as far as Maine I'll take you to the tour of Shipyard brewing company.

KZLA-FM, Country Radio Says Adios
So much for Los Angeles’ only Country "Hit" Music station. KZLA, in reality, died over a decade ago, but hey, some folks really like country pop crap. Nashville did not need Johnny Cash, George Jones, etc... I for one have no tears to shed. You would have least thought they would have given their listener’s advance warning. Only in LaLa Land. Thank God for internet radio and iPods.

Do not mean to toot my own horn. But Southern California looked pretty good last Saturday!

I hate to say it, but the Angels are prolly going to miss the playoffs by 2 or 3 games. Sending Jered Weaver back down to the minors (3 games he might have won for them, if kept in the majors) was brilliant! NOT. Bill Stoneman is an idgit!

2 weeks ago, a client sent me 20 something slides, and another bunch of 120 format transparencies. I can not remember the last time I had to deal with film. Hooked up my very old AGFA T1200 up to an old Mac OS 9 9600... Oops, the transparency bottom end failed. This was not good. Knew I needed to one day buy a new scanner that would work with Tiger. Spent a week looking and ended up buying a Canon CanoScan 9950F. Worth every penny! The best buy I have made this year. I could go on and on why I like this. Maybe a later post.

My best friend, frog, brought me a bunch of this Shipyard Export beer. Made in Maine. Also a 6 pack of Ring Wood Old Thumper. The Old Thumper might be the best beer I have ever had the pleasure to taste. More and more, I want to visit Maine. I highly recommend. Traders Joes should have it.

I have taken the Pacific Ocean for granted. I have been blessed living at it’s doorstep for years. As the days go on I realize I will miss my friends, familia, etc. But my heart is going to miss it more than anything here in Cali.

Cut off almost all my hair yesterday. What the heck, it will grow back. ;)

I have been putting this feature on my client’s sites for a while. So I put it on ours the other day.

He was a surfer. He was an amazing person. He lived more in a week than many live in a lifetime! He was an eye opener. He cared.

What he did to butter his bread just made him a bit more cool.

RIP Bro.

You will be missed

Not that I really have a life, but I have been busy with 45-hour work weeks, moving out of my art studio (i.e., moving all my crap back home where it's stacked up on the porch, in the garage, in my office ...), trying to get in a garden, plus the usual house chores. New music: old stuff. Picked up a Leo Kottke disc, Rosanne Cash Retrospective and On a Starry Night, a disc of world lullabies.

If anyone's interested, I see deepdiscountcd.com has Gram Parsons -- The Complete Reprise Sessions for $24.97, with free shipping. Has a few "previously unreleased" versions on it.

Falcon Ridge Folk Festival is almost here -- just two and a half weeks! Yay for working vacations! You're all invited to the biggest, best folk festival in the western northeast. www.falconridgefolk.com

Where I am moving to, The locals THINK that Taco Bell is mexican Food... Shoot me now... I am going to miss the days of old — driving to Silver Lake to eat at Burrito King, or the days when I lived in NoHo with the "Call of Taco" was a 15 minute walk. My first date with Ms Diane we had some Carnitas there. I think that was 1993...

It probably doesn't help that your Apples are made by a buncha stinking underpaid Commies in China ! I think Apple should rethink it's cheap labor source and consider using some of the 20 million illegals we have right here. I mean...our tacos and burritos are manufactured correctly, in most cases. Aren't they ?

Judi: Tue Jun 13, 06 at 10:52:58 AM (EDT) - my Apple love affair is OVER!

at Christmas the mother board on my ibook blew, was unrepairable so replaced it with another newer ibook. Today it gave me that black screen of death twice saying I needed to shut down or reboot right away. So that has issues.

Last month my imac, the fancy all in one big screen model went bad. It was a capacitor leaking on the logic board and power supply issue covered under warranty but it took almost a month to get repaired. I picked it up last night and when restarted it froze up after about 10 min use. So now I get about 10 min to do whatever and then it is frozen solid and I have to fiddle around getting the thing to start again.

I am not feeling the Apple Love I once felt. I do not like computers with issues. I am not a happy camper.

In other news my husband retires from 36 years of teaching this week. My life is spent visiting elderly parents, one in a nursing home, one in assisted living and the inlaws in elderly housing. I have no life any more, no travel plans, no party at J&D in my future but wish them well in their new home. My 10 min before the big freeze is about up.

darn computers!

(VBS) Yea, must have got lives...

Sounds like an idea... That party idea at J&D's.. I hear in 6 months they are gone. As in no longer in Cali. Might need to start planning a shin-dig... A BIG shin-dig... Gonna need a band of musicians... I wonder if any of us know anyone who can play a musical instrument? Wonder if any old Rumers whould give a darn and show up?

Hmmmmm.

Is there anyone out there? No... Oh well I will rant anyway...

Loving my new set up... Got iTunes dialed in. Screw my bad radio reception here in Pedro. KXLU, and Indie now are pumping. Scratching my head why I did not do this years ago... ACK! Where in the heck did Jim Dunfrund go.. not listed on KXLU? Oh My! This does suck... Hope I can find him on an internet station very soon.

Have not had a chance to set up an Apple IP server as my other switch lost the fan, have 2 coming my way.. So I can not still print of this Tiki G5, oh well.. All is swell... Next thing you know I am going to buy an iPod... hahahaha

Rant for the Day:

OK, I can understand that Quark 7 will only let me go backwards (saving) to Quark 6 - someone tell me how to do this, please... But now I hear that PhotoShop CS2 will only allow me to go backwards to CS1... WTF... It is one thing to expect that my printers catch up (hahaha - I got away with murder not upgrading all of these years) but many of my clients do not have the budget to upgrade with me... (sigh) oh well upgrade we go...

Have at least 7 years of them. Trash Day is Wednesday. Some went into storage, I may cherry pick a few to keep. but the rest are up for grabs. Speak now or... They go into the trash next week. BTW they do look very kewl side by side on a book case....

Hmmmmm, Tiger... WTF ... The end of AppleTalk... Just my 2 cents here... Stupid! I could give a flying f*ck that my G5 can now talk to a wintoast box, I need it to talk to my LaserWriter’s. Good thing I have a G3 (running Jag) to act as a print server. Apple you blew it there. Amazing... But I must add here... I love my new G5... Running Quark 7 as I post!

Well it was a good run, but after 4 years GP is back home. Good Grief. Have to rewire the house. But my switch is huming and for the first time our house has DSL... Going to miss the ol earthstink dial up... hahahahahaha... Way to old to do this this, but we are 80% moved.... (edit - 99.9 %)

So anywho, The folks who own the place where we had our office decided to cut us lose. Long story. so it goes (4 years). Phone number remains the same, and I will try and get new contact info up asap. We are in transition. The network and all servers are good to go. Sorry to see this, but a demolition group is moving into our old space, fill in the blanks. Kabooom.

Remember Mimi?? Of course you do!!

From Dom Barrett's LARadio.com...
Mimi Chen's New Show. Current KCSN midday host Mimi Chen will talking this Saturday, from 9 - 11 p.m. on KLSX. What's she planning for this weekend? "I did a general talk show in the Bay Area, but I'm a new voice here so it'll be up to the listeners to decide." Chen said that this is the station's 'check you out' opportunity for her, with no guarantees for future programs. An alumni of both Princeton and Columbia Universities, Mimi recently talked with LARadio.com. We'll present our interview with her next week. The talk station's morning host Adam Carolla recently apologized for a skit mocking an Asian media awards program, which was deemed 'racist and demeaning' by several Asian American media watchdog groups.

BTW where is everybody/anybody heh heh?
