I actually thought of that. Too bad it was after they laid the carpet. Oh well. You live, you learn.

That thought has crossed my mind. Who needs extra flash cards, when you can hook up the iPod straight to the camera... ;)

Anticipating how hard fishing cables could be, we waited til we did the interior facelift on the house.... The last step was to rip out the ancient carpet and replace it all... and while it was up, we laid flat monster cable for the whole entertainment center in the family room, then let the carpet layers in. Not always an option, but we seized the moment and never regretted it!

Fish tape: A device resembling a fishing reel, that electricians use to thread wires and cables through difficult to reach places, such as under carpet or through crawl spaces. In theory, simple. In my case, not so simple.

They're not really snowmobile suits; they're more like insulated jumpsuits. Hunters and road workers, guys that work outdoors, wear them around here. But they're definitely winter-weather clothes. Ick.

Or into it, maybe? if you're in Rancho Cucamonga. Are there any Rumours out that way? I hope all is well.
TIKI: I'm better now that the sinus infection is finally easing up -- that with allergies and the cold weather was getting really painful. Snow flurries the last few days, though nothing actually landed as white stuff. They've been paving the road in front of my house and it was kind of funny to see guys in snowmobile suits working on the hot tar.
I was listening to a cassette of favorites that I made a few years ago, and came across Susan Werner's "Petaluma Afternoons" -- nice weather for a California song!

Nice choice of digital camera! I would love to see it. I, too, will be waiting a while to get the new G5. Well, at least Bessy Sue is still going strong.
I picked up some frames at Aaron Bros. (25 % off!) and framed the Apple posters today. Put 6 up (Einstein, Jane, Miles, Amelia, Caesar, and John and Yoko. I must say, they do look nice. They were a b&#$h to put up, though. Had to hang six straight across. But, I did it! All even and lookin' purdy.
Now I'm trying to run the speaker wire under the carpet with fish tape, but it's not going so well. Keeps getting snagged. Perhpas it is time to call in the professionals.
When you gettin' the iPod? That should really be next on your list! ;-)

I haven't touched a webster application in ... well, since my computer got lightninged last year. I'm sadly out of practice. But we do have a talented webmastering Rumour in Maine, if she has a spare moment ... :^)

"Least Killifish" : Wed Oct 22, 03 at 11:28:07 PM (EDT) - "Least Killifish" returns with new name and new sound
tiberiasbrutus@yahoo.com
Hi Former Yellow Room citizens... Thanks to Peggy who just reintroduced me to this community... didn't know you were still going strong. It was 10/19 the other day and of course I thought of our old magic radio station...
Anyway, you can call me Al instead of Least Killifish, kinda outgrew that name... Or you can call me Mousetrap. I got that name at Burning Man this year.
I've been up to so much since we last spoke! I recorded a full-length CD and am now officially a recording artist. To that end I'd love to invite you to a few things.
I'm performing at Zen Sushi in Silverlake Monday, 11/3 at 8:30 p.m. and would love to see your smiling faces. It's a pay-to-play and I'm selling tickets for $7 each. Please email me with your snailmail addy and I'll mail them to you. You can pay me the night of the show or you can send me a check, or paypal me. This show is special because it will be the first show I've done where the press will review me. I need a strong audience and I promise to put on an amazing, engaging showcase (solo acoustic) with songs that delight and compel. Mark 11/15 on your calendar for my CD release party as well. Details forthcoming.
Peggy can tell you about my music; she was part of my test marketing crew. Peggy, wanna testify?
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Yep!
Judi: Wed Oct 22, 03 at 07:39:21 AM (EDT) - Thanks Jon
I knew I could count on you for help. ;-)
However this confuses me: "If you have not messed around with your inits in your Ext. Folder, The USB inits will be there." I assume that you mean the USB drivers should already be in my OS8 extensions folder if I have not messed around with things in that folder. I never touch or even peek in my system folder for fear of deleting or messing with something important. I will go to the site you suggest and get what I need and all will be peachy when DH returns tonight and can print to his heart's desire all his Jointer fence safety instructions.

Enter 840c, check Software and drivers, and submit. You are in Luck - They also have OSX Drivers!!!!!
Judi: Tue Oct 21, 03 at 07:55:16 PM (EDT) - printer drivers
I learned how to reboot into OS9 tonight and almost had a heart attack figuring how to get rebooted back into OSX. Scary! This printer was given to me, no software,or installation stuff. However I plugged it into my G4 in a USB port and there it was, and off I went printing with no intalling of drivers, they must be included in OSX. So where would I find the OS9 drivers for this printer? And when I find them out there somewhere, I have to put them into the Ext folder and I need 2 kinds of drivers, the printer drivers and something called a USB driver? So where does one find those? I realize that I need to consider that OSX and OS9 should be considered as 2 separate computers hiding in the same box and things don't work from one to another as a rule. Plus I don't want to go back to OS9 land...but I will for the good of the marriage to drop in those drivers. *shudder*
Tiki: Tue Oct 21, 03 at 07:24:14 PM (EDT) - Must add...
you will also need the USB OS9 drivers in the Ext. folder.
Tiki: Tue Oct 21, 03 at 07:21:37 PM (EDT) - Judi
Do you have the OS9 drivers?
If so open up your OS9 System Folder and drop them into the Extensions Folder. ReBoot in OS9 and they will show up in the chooser.

Judi: Tue Oct 21, 03 at 07:05:55 PM (EDT) - printer problems
Ok I have a MACINTOSH problem. It involves both OSX and OS9. My husband created hundreds of documents, lesson plans, diagrams etc for school when the computer was running on OS9 using Pagemaker and Photoshop and Canvas. Now I have a new color printer since I updated to OSX, a HP Deskjet 840C that I got for free from my son when they tossed them at work. It works perfectly fine under OSX and it is a USB connected machine. My husband launches his programs, OS9 opens up and he can see and make changes to his school documents but CAN NOT PRINT! While in the OS9 environment the new printer is not listed in the chooser nor can I figure out how to add it so he can print his &%$#@ stuff! He is pitching fits, expecting me to know EVERYTHING about this machine and I am a complete dolt and no help at all. So will someone explain to me how to add the HP Deskjet to the OS9 chooser so he can print?

Anyone know a good Web designer whom I can afford? I got the artwork, etc., but I need to add some flash like moving text and a sidebar with page links.

Yep, there was a whole article about that in the Times a few weeks back..... the Times bandied about "Schwarzie" and "S-negger" and a few others, but finally decided that since we dealt with Gov. Deukmeijian... we could handle Gov. Schwarzenegger. Personally, I keep wanting to put a "t" in it. I think they should do like "Blazing Saddles" - Gov. Run don't walk to your nearest record store or get online to Barnes and Noble, or take your best shot at eBay, but find a copy of either of The Waifs' last 2 cds. They're Aussies, two sisters and a guy, they have a tight, swingin' folk/rock sensibility that carries you all the way through their cds. One of the women band members plays a mean, I mean a MEAN harmonica. Check out their mp3 samples at their website....

P.S. Not to be confused with the So.Cal. punk/surf/garage band of the same name.

The Red Sox once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. We are still proud of our multi state shared Red Sox team. Just wait till next year! Now is there anyway we can arrange a "Not the World series" series and have the Cubs and Red Sox square off in a best of 7 games post season match? Now that is a series I would watch!

Wayne Huizunga (sp) was the owner of the 1997 World Champion Marlins. Jeff Lorie(sp) is now their owner. They don't really have high priced players on their team. Can't afford them when their avg attendance is 15,000 or so. The '97 Marlins had players like Gary Sheffied and Al Leiter just to name two, so they dropped salary.Wasn't the right thing to do at all. Props to the Marlins for accomplishing a very difficult feat.... Beating Mark Prior and Kerry Wood in back to back games, something that hasn't happened since mid-2002 season. The other almost impossible feat was coming back from being down 3-1 and winning the last three, including the last two ON THE ROAD. Cubs manager Dusty Baker missed an opportunity to become the first mgr to get to the WS in successive years with 2 different teams. The fault lies squarely on his shoulders, IMO. Mishandling the pitching staff is what burned him in Game 6 WS last year and the same this year. The A's had a lump in their throats, but the Cubs had an apple lodged there. And you can't blame a fan for the collapse.

Just for that, I'm rooting for the Yankees should they make it to the series. especially if they make it to the world seris. Still wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox win and will root for whoever takes the ALCS. By the way, do you remember what the owners of Marlins did after winning the series in 1997? Hint: There will be a baseball player auction in Florida after the series is over. Great way to reward your local fans.
P.S. We're use to having losing baseball francises in Chicago. But, unlike Dodger and Laker fans, we still back our teams. You know your at a Dodger game when half the fans get up and leave at the end of 7 innings, even if the score is tied.

Judi: Tue Oct 14, 03 at 08:07:57 AM (EDT) - speaking of arbitron
How do they choose those arbitron families to poll on listening habits? I found out yesterday that my 86 yr old father in law was asked to complete an arbitron ratings form. He told the man on the phone that he hasn't listened to the radio in ages! They said that was fine and to fill out the rating sheet anyway and they sent him a dollar bill for his trouble.. I told him to check off that he only listens to WCLZ of Portland Maine, the finest AAA station on the east coast. Is there a section on the sheet where you say why you don't listen to the radio and what a station would need to play to get that listener back listening again? If there was a Lawrence Welk/big band radio station he would have that on 24 hrs a day! EEEK!
Red Sox still in the game, tying up the series. Cowboy Up Sox!
jakbeni: Tue Oct 14, 03 at 03:39:02 AM (EDT) - SRF
Went to school at the University of illinois at Urbana-Champaign and occaisionally check the arbitrons for that area to see how local radio is doing. Recently, found out about a AAA formatted station called WWHP-The whip "http://www.wwhp.com/" This struck me as a surprise since there was a very good AAA station there called WEBX-the Web. however, the only had a 0.5 arbitron share of the audience, so they evenutally disappeared. WWHP, of all places, broadcasts from Farmer City, Illinois, a little hick town in central Illinois, but the format is quite interesting. Thought you'd be interested in checking it out.

jakbeni: Tue Oct 14, 03 at 02:50:29 AM (EDT) - Red Hot Chili Peppers@Verizon Amphatheater
Fun show with the following unexpected surprise. Towards the end of their set, the lead singer said, "I'd like to thank you for coming out here tonight. Especially you, way up their with the white T-shirt and brown hair. I can see you way down here." Can't say for sure, but I think he singled me out there. Spoke to a few people after the show and they seemed to agree with me, telling me he definately singled you out of the audience. Given this amphatheater seats a few thousand, I'm quite flattered.
Warming up for the RHCP were the Flaming Lips (a very colorful band with all sorts of characters dressed in costumes on stage) and Mike Watts new band, the Secondmen. The group had a very talented keyboard player and a very good drummer. I remember Mike Watt from his days with the Minutemen and, after that, with Firehose. Always had a high opinion of him. On Pacific Coast Highway across the street from the ocean, one mile south (or should I say east) of Peperdine University. Laid back atmosphere, laid back, friendly people, a nice beer garden, and good food. Tried the ribs there last night. Quite good.

Looks like this might be the year. The 95 year old curse may finally be broken. Unfortunately, those damn Yankees took game 3 of that series. One of the managers at work is a Boston native and a big Red Sox fan and even she admitted at the start of the series that the Sox always lose against the Yankees. But I'm with Judi, at least for the ALCS. Tired of the Yankees. But if the Red Sox can't get the job done, the Cubs are looking good in post season play and may make history this year. Still rather see the Cubs take on the Sox though.

Can't blame you for disliking greedball, as you call it. I can't say I've been very happy with past baseball strikes, but there's money there and its nature for many people who can to go after it. I wouldn't mind making that kind of money myself, so I can't say I have much sympathy for either side. But, obviosly you're not addicted to the game like I am. Anywho, for now I am watching... but in reality I have been boycotting greedball (ooops I mean baseball) for a few years. Sorry guys, that last strike put me over the edge. Not sure if I will ever go back. Can you tail gate at a game, drink a beer in the parking lot? Heck NO! They demand that you PAY out the wazzoo for your food and drinks. Sorry... Tiki don play that game.
You want value for your hard earned cash? Go to a college Football Game. I myself will be on the campus of USC (around 3pm) tomorrow, for the Stanford game. Gotta love that dancing tree. A foreshadowing of this years baseball events was the California Angels championship last year, another team with a losing history. When this happened, I knew there was hope for us Cub fans. Go Cubs!!!!! By the way, been a Gene Autrey fan ever since he gave the O.K. for KSCA to become a AAA formatted station, so I have to also be at least a fair weather Angel fan.
By the way, was fun being at Disneyland the night the Angels took it all. Was there to see the Residents perform at H.O.B. but could not help but notice the festivities for the game at downtown Disney on the way there. That was a fun night.
jakbeni: Fri Oct 10, 03 at 04:47:57 PM (EDT) - Judy
Disagree with ya. If it ends up a Sox/Marlin series, I'll root for the Sox. If it comes down to Yankees/Fish, I'm giving up on baseball for the year. But at least you Sox fans have had a bunch of American League Pennants to cheer for over the years. Us Cubbie fans havn't had that since '45, 58 years ago. And if you include both Chicago teams (Cubs and White Sox), the last world series was in '59 and the last world championship was in 1917 (but I am only a fair weather White Sox fan as opposed to a true Cub fan). So both Chicago teams combined have together had a longer drought than your Red Sox. By the way, here is a trivia question. The Red Sox last won the W.S. in 1918. Who did they beat? Hint: If these 2 teams meet again this year, its pay back time. Nothing like an 85 uear old grudge.

10. So you have a sixty-thousand dollar car. We're real impressed. We have quarter-million dollar skidders to pull logs out of the woods.
11. Let's get this straight. We have one stoplight in town. We stop when it's red. We may even stop when it's yellow.
12. Our women hunt, fish, and drive trucks because they want to. So, you're a feminist. Isn't that cute.
13. Yeah, we eat lobster, scallops, clams and haddock too. If you really want sushi and caviar, it's available at the bait shop.
14. They are pigs and they are cows. That's what they smell like. Get used to it. Don't like it? Interstate 95 & Maine Turnpike go two ways.... get on the Southbound Lane!
15. "Opening day" refers to the first days of fishin' and deer season'. They are religious holidays. You can get breakfast at the church.
16. So what if every person in every pickup waves? It's called being friendly. Understand the concept?
17. Yeah, we have golf courses. Don't hit in the water hazards. It spooks the fish.
18. Chowder is supposed to be white. Don't even think of asking for red chowder until you are somewhere safely south of White Plains.

I am positive this is in the Stacey Sutherland era. 1966?
The clue lies in the bass drums artwork (moot if this was standard Rogers for that time)... What I would give to see the mans (wearing the hat) face. For some crazy reason, I know the guy on the left... There must be some connection to the 13 floor elevators... than again...

Will wonders never cease? I was surprised when the Berlin wall came down, but no more than I was upon reading below that former union shop steward and long-time rank-and-file Demograt has seen the dirty underside of that party in their desperate efforts to retain power in the California state government.
As for the Repuglicans, they're just as bad. They are the biggest organization of back-room power mongers since Tammany Hall, except for the Demograts, of course.
They picked Ahnold because they like actors. They say their lines better, and they stick to the script. If most of the people who say they like Tom McClintock better, but they're voting for Ahnold because they think he can win, would vote their conscience, then Ahnold would be left with the party faithful and we get an experienced State Legislator in the executive chair, and maybe even overcome the political machine that controls the legislature.
So, come on over, RTE, but don't stop half way. Step out of the crap and vote for Tom McClintock. He represents the core values of the real Republican Party, which Ahnold and the back-room boys have forsaken in favor of winning at any cost.
Call me a spoiler if you will, but I voted for the man who is best qualified for the job, and damn the power brokers.
VOTE YOUR CONSCIENSE! If your man doesn't win, at least you're being true to yourself.

It's not that obvious who the mystery band is that HoSandy posted the other day (see below), except that the bass player looks a lot like a young Paul McCartney, and the guy sitting on the stage resembles John Lennon.
Here's another mystery band for you to ponder. The first one to identify this band gets a free ticket to see RTE play at Muldoon's Pub in Fashion Island.

RTE: Tue Oct 7, 03 at 02:48:47 PM (EDT) - Secret Ballot ?!?!?!?
In OC the ballots are big pieces of paper, (perhaps 11x14 ?), but the ballot boxes are the same ones the punch cards are inserted in. Well...at my polling place the ballots would not slide out of the secrecy folder and they only way they could get the ballot to go down was to remove the folder and push the ballot in by hand...EXPOSING the votes. Not just mine but the folks before and after me. I've filed a formal complaint with the Registrar of Voters and informed the OC Register of the problem. It'd be interesting to see if it happens to others in adjoining counties. Why didn't they use the punch cards ? I mean, shite, we don't live in Florida !

I agree with you on the casinos.... casinos don't benefit a community - and it's scary to see all the seniors who wander around with their dixie cups full of coins, looking for the slot machine they're sure to hit the jackpot with.
Judi: Tue Oct 7, 03 at 12:13:43 PM (EDT) - Fans
Glad to see some Red Sox fans on the left coast. Those Yankees have had their turn again and again, share the fun with some other deserving team for a change! It would be awesome to break all curses with a Sox - Cubs World Series, but as I said before, SOX this year, Cubs next.
I pitty you Californians and the recall "pick a candidate" election. I can imagine the glut of radio and TV ads you have been subjected to. In Maine the big issue is whether or not to build an Indian tribe run casino. We seem to have several Indian tribes that think a casino is a great idea, brings in thousands of new jobs, millions in state revenue and won't that be grand? We won't mention that only a tiny portion of the profit from only slot machines goes to the states, the profit from all other games goes back to Las Vegas and the Indians get a share of that money. Oh fun! Gambling addictions! Crime! Poverty in an already poor state! I can't wait.

It's been a while ! I've been busy with various activities.
I know that this isn't supposed to be the forum for politics, but it's important today. I'd been on the Move On mailing list since the Republicans tried to hang Clinton at the expense of all else. Their campaign to overturn the new FCC changes was a good thing, recently. But now that they've gotten into the Recall election with their recent ad that's been playing (pic of Arnold and "You CAN'T vote for this man"...), I am pissed ! $500K in donations to air the thing and most of the dough came from outside the state. I've seen the Dems pull some sleazy crap in state politics and, in most cases, didn't flinch. But the last few election cycles have shown that they/we will do anything to retain power. So yesterday I sent the following to Moveon.org :
I am totally dismayed about the hypocritical position that you've taken on the California Recall election. Wasn't Move On the organization that asked the American people to ask Congress to "move on" to the business of the people instead of dwelling on Bill Clinton's sexual misadventures and lying about it ?
Instead of giving Mr. Schwarzenegger the same courtesy you extended to the President, you've already convicted him. Amazing. Clinton engaged in sex while IN OFFICE. Mr. Schwarzenegger hasn't even won.
Of course many of these same "good" Democrats had NO problem with their kids watching Arnold kill dozens in his action films or watching and even ENJOYING the films themselves. But voting for someone that has allegedly engaged in sexual harassment is not a good moral action.
Maria Shriver is a good Democrat. She made a speech last Friday that touched me and reassured me with respect to her husband's character. If I have a choice between believing Ms. Shriver & Gray Davis, my choice is now clear. I was against the recall. But because of the actions of the LA Times and organizations like yours, I will vote for it. I am ashamed of the Democratic Party and I am ashamed of you.
Please remove me from your list of members as I can no longer trust your judgment.
Gray Davis is scum. Bustamante is even scummier. BOTH need to be removed and inserted on the unemployment rolls. Sadly, only Davis is eligible. No matter what, go out and vote YES on the recall today
. There are some viable replacement candidates. Use them.

Hi j & j; Wait a minute, here. jakbeni claims to have been waiting 95 years for the Cubs to win a post-season playoff. And Judi claims to have been a fan for longer? Let me just say that you guys sure had me fooled. I could have sworn you were both under 100.
Taopagan sent this link to where you can hear Attorney General John Ashcroft sing an original song about soaring with eagles. Do you suppose he plays guitar, too? I suppose he has a band called "The New Neo-fascists." Click on this and give a listen. It gets better near the end; sort of "whitey-rap."

How about those Sox? And Rodger I agree, it would be magical for a Cubs/Sox World Series this year. But as I have been a Sox fan for more years than you have been a Cubs fan, lets say let the Sox win it this year and your Cubs can have the win NEXT year.
jakbeni: Sun Oct 5, 03 at 11:01:46 PM (EDT) - Ron Santo day
Was watching the final Cub game of the regular series at Wrigley Field. On this day, they retired the number of one of my all time favorite Cub, former 3rd baseman (mid-late '60's and early '70's), Ron Santo. He is a huge Cub fan and am sure is ecstatic about tonights win. Anyway, when they where honoring him, he said "This year we are gonna go all the way". Hope your right Ron.
jakbeni: Sun Oct 5, 03 at 10:57:32 PM (EDT) - Cubs win! Cubs win! Cubs win!
Us Cubbie fans have been waiting 95 years for a post season series win and we finally got one! There are 2 more series they have to win to get the championship, but for once I have a reason to be optimistic. GO CUBS!
JUDI: How bout a Cub/Red Sox world series! Remains to be seen if it will happen, but fans of both teams have been waiting for a World Championship for a long long time.
jakbeni: Sun Oct 5, 03 at 07:44:02 PM (EDT) - Baseball Playoffs
Waiting for game 5 of the Chicago/Atlanta series. Having been a Cub fan since I was a little twerp, all I can say is GO CUBS!!!!!! Hope I'm not eating these words by the time you read this, but knowing the Cubs, I could be. Steve Goodman wrote a song before he passed on called A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request which tells about the Cubs losing history. Great Song! Still applies to this day.

I seen the John Hiatt/Robert Cray show at the Greek Theater last Sunday (with a warm up performance from another great group: The Blind Boys of Alabama). Not really much of a Rober Cray fan, but wanted to see the Blind Boys and John Hiatt. Having seen the Blind Boys twice before, I knew what to expect. John Hiatt exceeded expectations. My first impression of the Goners was, "Boy, these guys are tight!" Then I took a look at the band members in his band, the Goners and the lead guitarist (who played slide guitar) looked familiar. Couple of minutes, it came to me. It was none other than Sonny Landreth! Having seen Sonny twice before at the American Music Festival at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, Illinois with his own band, I know what a hot slide guitarist the guy is. That made my whole evening! Going into the show, John Hiat was a Nice to see. After having seen how good these guys are, if he returns, I will rate him as a must see.

Sandy: Sat Oct 4, 03 at 01:20:33 PM (EDT) - The Way I Saw It....
Robert Cray Band / John Hiatt and The Goners @ The Grove, Anaheim, CA, 10/02/03.
Don bailed out on work from a meeting in Glendale, came home and gathered me up, and away we went swimming upstream on the 5 to Anaheim. After the parking lot thugs got their $8 out of us, we wandered in and got our seats for dinner. It was a bit better than the Coach House's food, but no buxom waitresses in short pants. A bottle o' BV cab washed it all down. For the fashion-conscious, hubby was in levis, navy collarband shirt and a tweed jacket. I were sportin' black on black, over a dusty pink button up shirt, w/a bit o' cleavage. I think it was totally wasted except on the waiter who lingered long behind my left shoulder. The average age of the crowd was maybe 40.
The Robert Cray Band was tight, I thought the drums were a bit much... but overall... a nice yuppy blues band. Having just come off a few nights of The Blues on PBS, they just looked toooo neat and suburban...... no old black bluesmen with gnarly fingers and maybe a toof missing here and there. Their fans (also very neat and suburban) treated them loudly and fondly to applause and ovations... I liked them, but they didn't really ring my chimes. They played their old Top 40 hits (Strong Persuader and Smoking Gun) and stuff off their new album.
After a loooooong teardown and intermission, John Hiatt took the stage - and you saw who the majority of the crowd was there to see. The audience came to life, the spouses fetching beers quit fetching... the women quit trotting off to the Ladies' in groups, and the fun began. The playlist went thusly:
1. Lincoln Town
2. The Tiki Bar Is Open
3. Drive South
4. Circle Back
5. Almost Fed Up With The Blues
6. Feels Like Rain
7. Riding With The King
8. Crossing Muddy Waters
9. My Baby Blue (featuring a flame-haired young groupie doing an impromptu exotic dance at the edge of the stage..... prompting John, after she stole the show for that song, to remark "ya know, W.C. Fields never shared the stage with children, dogs,... or redheads."
10. Slow Turning
11. Tennessee Plates
Encore
12. Have A Little Faith
13. Memphis In The Meantime
The band was tight, very tight. John was full of good humor - he couldn't let the night go by without a few Ah-nold jokes. He said when we're ready to "recall the recall", he'd be there to take on Arnold in a Greco-Roman wrestling match.... he's been to the gym this month and is feeling buff.
In conclusion, I have 2 words:
Sonny Landreth. Dang, somebody hose him down, he's just too hot.

How about those Red Sox? Last night was a fluke, I tell ya, just a fluke!
Nothing exciting happening on the right coast. We have had our first frost of the year, we plan to attend the Fryeburg Fair this weekend. Neither son is engaged or married yet. I'm planning a trip to DC later this month. I could care less about the recall, or the leak unless it is a Saturn VUE "recall" or a "leak" in my roof. The autumn foliage season is mid color. Life is good.

How about those Cubs?
Tiki: Wed Oct 1, 03 at 10:53:31 PM (EDT) - Robert Palmer
Just my 2 cents...
A zillion years ago there was this record company... Island. Yes I know they were controlled by Warner... But they took chances... something I do not see anymore when I look at the MAJORs. How Sad.
Hey... I am pleased as punch that Palmer pulled offd those 80's MTV videos... but LOL... it was never my cup of tea...
I will remember Robert Palmer for Sneaking Sally through the Alley and his albums in between Clues
Clues ranks in my (JMMHO) top 20 greatest albums of all times. Long before White Guys felt they needed to be hip with the ethnic credibility (I will go into this if asked, but most folks who go this route are as phonny as a 3 dollar bill) Robert was mixing these great World sounds into his thang. One spin (as in turntable of I Dream Of Wires and you are hooked. Helping Robert is Paul Gardiner on Bass and Gary Numan on Keys... I can go on and on and on...

to write on the October walls? Well, it's almost October.
In case you've been missing the obits, the world lost a genius of drama today in Elia Kazan, dead at age 94. Even without all the wonderful, sensitive and innovative plays and motion pictures that he directed, he would have a place in the history of filmmaking just for casting not one but two young actors who would become legends. They were Marlon Brando and James Dean.
Also dead is Althea Gibson, who was the first black contestant (and winner) at Wimbledon. She was 76.
Yesterday's deaths included Donald O'Conner, movie song-and-dance man, at age 78.
Saturday it was Robert Palmer, dead from a heart attack at age 54. Palmer was noted for the innovative video promoting his song "Addicted to Love."
"Dyin' is part o' livin'" Forrest Gump's mama told him.
