Tiki: Mon Jul 19, 04 at 11:47:12 PM (EDT) - RIP Hawk Singer

One of the bestest dogs I ever met... You will be missed.

Mrs. Dr (aka tea): Mon Jul 19, 04 at 10:52:30 PM (EDT) - RIP Hawk Singer

Best Canine Companion in the world!

Now he can frolic, and bark all he wants (Hawk didn't bark, but IF he wants to, now he can!).

We were with him. We fed him a chocolate Hagen Dazs ice cream, and the vets bought him a steak sandwich. I held the ice cream bowl for him while he licked at it. As it got low I took a plastic spoon and fed him. He was so into the ice cream treat we heard him crack the spoon. I took it out of his mouth and it was still whole, but on the next scoop we noticed a third of the spoon's bowl was gone. He'd swallowed it. At first I was aghast, but then we laughed, what are we worrying about? I offered him the sandwich & he snatched it out of my hand, and nearly swallowed it whole! He made us laugh (and cry) right to the end. We took turns feeding him treats they kept bringing, which he's not been "allowed" to eat for years! He was one fed boy!

With the vet’s help, we got Hawk on his back legs to hug & kiss Larry again.

The vet waited a long time for us to be "ready" came in, and dimmed the lights. It was very peaceful, and he was surrounded by love and care.

Needless to say there wasn't a dry eye in the room. The vet had to excuse herself she was really losing it. She's young. Maybe 30. And really adores Hawk.

Hawk was 2 when he met up with Larry, 10 1/2 years ago & it really was an ideal match for both of them.

We will all miss Hawk, but today he was having a "good" day, and that made it a wee bit easier, knowing he wasn't having a no good, very bad day.

I remember the poster collection, and you being quite proud of it.

Dr. Larry Singer: Mon Jul 5, 04 at 02:16:31 AM (EDT) - Does this seem logical??

Saw this in the "fine print" of the iTMS giveaway: How To Enter. You will automatically be entered into the Promotion by: 1) downloading a song from iTunes (any Free Download Single of the Week will be deemed an ineligible entry); or 2) a free alternative means of sending an email to Apple at itunes100@apple.com via the iTunes “Tell a Friend” feature (a song download or Tell a Friend email will be deemed an “Entry(ies”). The “Tell a Friend” feature can be easily accessed at iTunes by selecting a song, and clicking the “Tell a Friend” link that is displayed for that song. One Entry will be automatically submitted for each song downloaded or Tell a Friend email sent. The Promotion begins following the downloading of the 95,000,000th iTunes song, and ends with the downloading of the 100 millionth Entry (“End Date”). Only Entries submitted in this time period will be accepted.

How can I win by just "telling a friend" when those aren't counted in the master tally anyhow?? This seems like a concession so it doesn't seem like Apple is illegally trafficking in gambling, yet there's NO WAY to prove that you're the winner anyhow, until you receive the notice saying you have won. In other words, the song sold count isn't going to increase if you don't buy a song, so even if you "tell a friend" at the X99,999th song, you're not going to win, because it still wouldn't be 100,000 songs sold.

Dr. Larry Singer: Sun Jul 4, 04 at 04:11:27 AM (EDT) - that ticker...

I don't think it's in real time, though. I know it doesn't count dcown while looking at it, but even when you reload the screen it doesn't change sometimeas...for a long time. You would thik SOMEONE in the world is buying at least 1 song.

Dr. Larry Singer: Sun Jul 4, 04 at 04:09:02 AM (EDT) - Speaking of my love...

..it was 4 years ago today (on the 4th of July) that we were married! Happy Anniversary honey!

Dr. Larry Singer: Sun Jul 4, 04 at 04:06:10 AM (EDT) - iPod batterypack

Yeah...I knew about that battery pack..but i'm actually set. I am TRULY mobile, as I have a cigarette lighter adapter hooked up to my electric wheelchair, and have it available to charge my ipod. Of course, I also can charge my phone and powerbook from this. The bummer thing is when all three die at once. Priorities...MUSIC! (of course, after first calling my love to tell her i'll be sans cell phone.)

Dr. Larry Singer: Sun Jul 4, 04 at 04:01:47 AM (EDT) - 2, not 1, but 2 blasts from the past

I was at Hootenanny today, registering voters for Rock The Vote, and I started talking with some guy. Then, his friend comes up and says "Hey..it's Larry". I ask their names (cause I sure as hell didn't recognize them 7 years down the road)...Jeff and Shaun...our very own Zoetrope and Shaun Mason. It blew my mind. Shaun didn't recognize me because, as he said, "Your hair's getting longer and you're...not as clean cut." =]

Poogie: Fri Jul 2, 04 at 02:24:41 PM (EDT) - iTunes

Dr. Larry, if you've noticed the iTunes ticker going up, up, up, the last couple of days, I am partially responsible. Been downloading a bunch of old Sam Phillips, and other odds and ends. So addictive. And so much fun!

P.S. I know you have an iPod, so you might want to check out this gizmo. I just ordered one. It is an external battery pack for your pod. Runs on AA batteries. Also recharges your iPod while connected to it. Belkin has one that is expensive ($59.99) and bulky. This one, by Gadget Accessories is smaller, and cheaper ($29.99 through their web site). You can buy it through them on ebay for $23.99, which is what I did. Now I don't have to worry about my battery running out on long trips, etc.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Tiki: Fri Jul 2, 04 at 12:53:14 PM (EDT) - Larry

John and Yoko was issued as part of the education series, 11X17 only. If you bought it over a year ago, the odds are very good that it is legit.

Larry Singer: Fri Jul 2, 04 at 02:02:59 AM (EDT) - Thinking Different

I've also got the John & Yoko...but I have the small version (or "virgin" as it were). How would I know if mine were counterfeit. I just have mine mounted on corkboard. I went MCE (Mac Components Engineered) In the Irvine and saw theirs and HAD to have it. They wouldn't sell, so I got mine on ebay. What a brilliant marketing campaign.

Speaking of brilliant marketing campaigns...how many of you are going to stat glued to to the iTMS ticker on Apple's website to make purchases?? 10,000 free songs! Yeah!

At the "Save AAA in LA" meeting in Jan 1997 an attorney "Sarira Alexander" attended. Check her name in quotes in Google. She also worked for a private investigator, who works for an infamous cult group (affiliated with Earthlink).

John and Yoko -- WHAT !!?? No pic of the "Two Virgins"?

Tiki: Sun Jun 27, 04 at 09:38:14 PM (EDT) - Howzit Poogie!

I took a few pics today of my passion, for the lurkers. Very quick snap shots... please ignore the glare that the UV glass gives off. One of these days I will pull them off of my walls (earthquake mounts, pain in the rear end to remove), and shoot them proper.

Here is my Conference Room where we brain storm and eat lunch.

Conference Room

John and Yoko

My prized TD poster

One day, I will put up my entire collection, but for the time being I have set up a TD Directory. Just a bit of my collection, more to follow.

Poogie: Sun Jun 27, 04 at 03:43:40 AM (EDT) - Think Different

Yes, Tiki does have a plethora of Think Different Posters in his office, all beautifully framed. I am quite jealous. He got me interested in them, but not having as much room, I bought the 11 X 17 educational series. I have six of them framed and hanging on the walls by my computer: Einstein, Jane Goodall, Miles Davis, Amelia Earhart, Cesar Chavez, and John and Yoko. My friends seem to appreciate these much more than my Diane Arbus print, "Albino Sword Swallower." I just don't understand! ;-) Got my Think Different posters from redlightrunner.com. They have a decent selection, always changing, and they are legit. Great place for all Apple memorabilia.

Tiki: Sat Jun 26, 04 at 06:58:23 PM (EDT) - My “Think Different” Posters

Hey Dr. Larry!

Outstanding... The 7th “Think Different” poster of my collection. I wish TBWA CHIAT/DAY would have done a better job on the production side, knocking out Lucy and Desi (very bad PhotoShop job). Notice my Jim and Kermit?

You could say that I have a passion for Apple’s “Think Different” advertising campaign. Ask Poogie, KD or anyone else who has visited the Graphic Penguin office. At this moment I have 13 24X36 “Think Different” posters pro framed. Add 6 TBWA CHIAT/DAY ad (prototype) proofs [including a very rare Flick], my Aldrin insert, and 1 11X17 (John and Yoko) to the mix. You could say my pro framer likes me... ;)

This does not include 7 other 34X26s not framed, the entire set of 11X17 education series, the “Think Different” book (semi-rare), a few more prototype proofs, and a ton of other misc stuff. Still after a NZ Ali, and a perfect Graham. Richard Feynman will be the next to be framed.

I will try and put up a page (sort of an office tour) with my framed TD posters. With that said... Beware of 50% of the “Think Different” Posters being sold on eBay! Do NOT buy from elialbek. He is a known counterfeiter. Apple did not produce the strange sizes these folks are selling on eBay. Beware! It is a shame that eBay will do nothing about these scam artists.

Dr. Larry Singer: Thu Jun 24, 04 at 02:13:47 AM (EDT) - Loooocy!

Tiki-

hey...i've got that same Lucy/Ricki "Think Different" poster above my computer. tea's a big Lucy fan, and I surprised her with it.

neen: Mon Jun 21, 04 at 05:54:30 AM (EDT) - 40 lbs...

That's about how much I've got to lose -- 25 from pregnancy to which I just hang on, and 15 I wanted to shed before.. well done and congrats to you, Judi of the North :)

i'm just back from the beach yesterday (kid's first time & he liked it lots) and the general high of the best 2-day weather stretch in the NYC area in 5 years (according to my dad, who does not exaggerate, as a rule.

Outstanding!

Judi: Fri Jun 18, 04 at 11:41:08 AM (EDT) - had to share the news

I have officially lost 40 lbs on my diet. 40 pounds since March 1st and I no longer need to take blood pressure medication as that is normal too! I had to share...Back to your regularly scheduled program

Tiki: Wed Jun 16, 04 at 09:09:46 PM (EDT) - Wireless

One of these days I too will set up a wireless network in my house (sigh still on dial-up here) but not for a while. It might be nice to log on to the internet in my front yard, but before that happens, my Pismo PowerBook will receive a much needed upgrade!

G4/550 processor

On that note, my G4/450 MAChCarrier Adapter showed up today. The plan is to drop the puppy into my Tiki Beast on Saturday!

Poogie: Wed Jun 16, 04 at 06:51:36 PM (EDT) - Judy-Wireless

Just remember, you don't have to get an expensive Airport base station to network your Macs in a wireless config. I use an inexpensive Netgear router I got from Amazon. If you have an iBook, you will need an airport card for that. I have my desktop Mac hooked up to the router, via cat5 cable. Same with my printer. Only my laptop and TiVo are actually wireless.

Judi: Wed Jun 16, 04 at 08:27:32 AM (EDT) - wireless

I am on the verge of going wireless. I plan to make a trip to the Maine Apple store to ask what exactly I need for my computers, and hope to either purchase or order them. First I went DSL, now wireless! And I need speakers... why should hubby have all the fun toys? cordless drill, saws, impact hammer, lawnmower... it is my turn!

Tiki: Tue Jun 15, 04 at 09:07:39 PM (EDT) - Hmmmmmmm

Well, I was hoping for Apple to hit 3GHz the second time around.2.5GHz is good!

The New Power Mac G5

Yowzer! Have you seen the pics of the new liquid cooling system, Apple stuffed into the box? Go to AppleInsider for a look-see.

Still waiting for the 3GHz version (LOL - I can not afford V2 at the moment). On a good note, My Tiki Beast 9650/G3 500 will soon be a G4/450. FedEx tracking shows the new card arriving tomorrow! If everything goes right, it will be rockin by Saturday.

Tiki: Mon Jun 14, 04 at 11:17:02 PM (EDT) - Yowzer

Mr Ray Charles Robinson.... America is still the Beautiful as is your music which will endure til the end of time.

I was fortunate to see Ray Charles perform at The Pond last year as part of an Elton John tribute. He IS a genius. He didn't perform a bad song.
