Hmmmm, maybe time to clear your browsers cache?
Hmmmm, I am really thinking about buying the new Led-Zep CD/DVD set... Long Beach 72 was a great gig!
Judi: Wed May 28, 03 at 04:40:58 PM (EDT) - not updating
Mr Penguin, This web site is not updating for me now. For the last few days when I log in here all I see is your post from Saturday called "a few links" and messages below that.. To see anything new I have to click the "update the board" button. In the past all I had to do was log in and anything new since my last visit would show up. I have not changed my browser preferences to show nothing new and at other web sites I see the new content, it seems to be a problem only here.
Judi: Wed May 28, 03 at 02:23:45 PM (EDT) - building an ark
Nothing but rain and dampness now for 6 days, dreary, wet, cold weather. So to get out of this funk I treated myself to a morning at the museum of art (I have a membership there) and then to Borders to use up the last bit of a gift card. I'm so excited, I bought cds instead of books, can you imagine that? (well I guess YOU can)
Mary Fahl "The Other side of Time", gives me shivers it is so good.
and The Thorns, consisting of Matthew Sweet, Shawn Mullins and Pete Droge. The album gets a lot of airplay here so I thought why not? It was a steal at $10.00. However I have not opened it becuase I'm busy wearing out Mary Fahl's cd first.
What better way to cheer up a lousy day? Art and music!

That was me...
I have not repaired it yet.... Still in its box. I am also in California - San Pedro.
If Sound Eye (located in Torrance) is still in biz, they might see it in a few
months... I have to move first... These guys rock... As well as ElectroTec. You know a place
is great when you bring in your gear and they let you know that it may take 2 months before
they get a chance to touch it.
LOL.. Yowzer... I too recieved mine on a similar note... My buddy used to be involved in
moving folks, a client handed it to him, broke so he gave it to me. The cart needs to be
replaced, and it has a tracking problem...
What seems to be wrong with yours? You might be able to find an owners
manual on eBay.
Thomas More: Sat May 24, 03 at 05:58:47 PM (EDT) - Where you docked, Oldsalt?
If your hook happens to be down in Newport Bay (California), you're real close to ElectroTec in Costa Mesa. The place of choice for vintage audio repair, for all those who know in SoCal, near and far.
Ask for Frank. Tell 'im Thomas More sent you.

Hey someone was writing about a pd-289 turntable by Luxman. Did you ever get it repaired?
I friend of mine found one on a sidewalk in Brooklyn and gave it to lucky me. I've been tryin to find a owner's manual for it. If you got any info or can suggest somewhere to send it to be repaired it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Poogie: Fri May 23, 03 at 01:34:17 AM (EDT) - Tiki
Glad to hear you and Diane had a nice time Saturday night. I decided to kick back and have my semi-annual nervous breakdown (with the help of a bottle of Reisling) ;-)
Sick iPod was sent back to Apple. They are sending me a new one. I miss my iPod! I really do! I finished the weekend with a grand total of 50 downloads from the Apple Music Store. Bad Poogie!!!!
You and the Mrs. will be happy to know that I spent today at a proof reading and grammar class! Trying to sharpen my skills. It turned out to be a very fruitful day. And now I have a better handle on commas, fragments and colons!
New digital camera coming tomorrow?a Leica Digilux. I'm dipping my toes back in the waters of photography. Need an outlet for my long dormant creativity. Very pysched, although I think I'm too old to be getting back into this. Oh well, Helen Levitt is older than dirt and I think she's still going!
Tiki: Thu May 22, 03 at 09:20:50 PM (EDT) - KD
Sorry to hear that the webcast did not work. I hope you were able to tape your slot...
While you were spinning away, I trust you played a few LPs, Diane and I were treated to a rare Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets fame) solo acoustic show at DiPiazza's, located in Long Beach. It was very cozy, maybe 50 folks showed up. It was also nice hearing him play some of the old tunes... as well as a few of the old standards (he played 'In Dreams' per my request) that the Meat Puppets were apt to perform... All in all a very nice night...
KD: Thu May 22, 03 at 08:54:39 PM (EDT) - akamary

Afraid I can't make it out to starbucks-- gotta getmy garden in. My new toy is on a trailer in the yard: a secondhand Troy-Bilt Econo Horse. If the rain holds off, I'm gonna rototill and plant for two days straight. Bet I won't be standing up straight at the end of it, though -- between the rocks and the tiller, I'll be pretty sore. Sandy: I'd love some seeds! Lucky you. Tomatoes are still many weeks away for us. RTE: Hey you! Not going to be headlining at Falcon Ridge this year?

You might say THE AUTOMATICS are a musical version of the brothers Kazarinoff.
Thomas More: Tue May 20, 03 at 12:06:15 PM (EDT) - Shameless plug for old time YRer
I have heard from one or two of "the old yellow gang," and I've been informing them about this place. Does anyone remember Taopango (Yonko), the iconoclastic canyon dweller, guitarist, defender of the weird and occult?
If Reptile was still about, he could tell you about Yonko's Halloween party that he and I attended, back in the dim past of the mid-'90s. There was a patio leading to a tree house, and... well, you can imagine a party at Yonko's house, with everyone in costume. It was a mind-altering experience, with the band playing in the living room, the smell of insense and... peppermint.
Here's the plug. All you city dwellers take note:

Sandy: Tue May 20, 03 at 01:37:35 AM (EDT) - Better Idea
My recommendation for Marri's stands.... their pizza is wonderful, and if you're near Dizzyland or the Convention Center, you gotta stop in, plus the A/C works really well, a plus in the summer.
BUT, for a gig at Ball/Brookhurst, the place to eat after (and I think they stay open a while, cuz they have a full bar) is Mama Cozza's, kitty corner from Starbucks and down Ball about a half block on the right. Much closer for this event. We spent many a Sunday dinner there with HoS' mom and brother.... there is no such thing as a small serving of anything there. It's recommended family Italian food at a modest price. What do you think, YRers?
Sandy: Tue May 20, 03 at 01:15:06 AM (EDT) - RTE
And.......... HoS can steer us all to good pizza at Marri's at Katella and..... Walnut? Anyway, across from where the old bowling alley used to be by Dizznyland. Either before or after, would work, mmmmm.
Thomas More: Tue May 20, 03 at 12:32:29 AM (EDT) - Thursday night?
RTE; In the meantime, can we see you and Dave and Jason on Thursday night at The Bluewater Grill? That's much closer to the 405 freeway than Anaheim/Brea.
And if you want to get hopped up, you can have a hipshot. They have a mixture of coffee and alcohol, so you can get drunk and stay awake to enjoy it.
Tiki: Mon May 19, 03 at 11:55:56 PM (EDT) - RTE
Sounds like a plan...
Address please...
RTE: Mon May 19, 03 at 11:37:01 PM (EDT) - Hell Just Froze Over !!!
And...I musta died.
For some reason, (that's obviously beyond the scope of MY imagination), Dave and I have agreed to play at our local Starbuck's. For free. Without pay. Just for fun.
So...come witness a veritable miracle. This Saturday night. The Brookhurst-Ball shopping center in Anaheim. 8 p.m. until we tire of it. (I mean hell....we ain't getting paid, so why commit to having fun on a schedule?)
Seriously. This is our way of us giving something back to all of our fans. And a way to get outta the house on a BAD TV night. So cancel all of your plans and get hopped up with us.
Judi: Mon May 19, 03 at 07:13:18 AM (EDT) - spring has sprung
Well, much of my garden is in! So far I have 2 types of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant and lots of rhubarb in the vegatable beds. The lupins, poppy, cloumbine, peony, iris, lilly of the Valley, roses and hollyhocks all came up again in profusion. Sandy's wild flower seeds have been planted in a new garden area. Windowboxes are full of geranium and petunias. Hanging baskets of Wave petunia and ivy geranium. And once again I planted 4 dozen verbena as I absolutely loved the colorful blossoms all summer long. It took 3 hrs to mow the lawn yesterday and the black flies are out. No sign of ticks yet. On Saturday we opened camp, our cabin at the lake, and ice out on the lake was only 5 days previous! A large bull moose stared us down for about 2 min, standing firm in the middle of the road. I managed to get a photo of his backside as he ran off into the woods.I am starting to take more time away from my folks, only visiting them every other day now becuase they either need to prove they can live independently or they will have to move into an assisted living apartment. However the inlaws have been equally naughty and need more checking on. Never a dull moment with those 4 folks! Oldest son had tickets to go to Morocco on vacation, then terrorists changed those plans so now he is off to Seattle! Youngest son and GF leave for a 2 week driving vacation to North Carolina to see her mom later this week. Yup, spring has sprung in the North east.
Thomas More: Mon May 19, 03 at 12:23:54 AM (EDT) - Somebody say Par-tay?
I'm ready. Will there be rumballs galore? Live music? Will RTE strain himself thru the patio screen?
Speaking of ol' timers, I wish my hard drive hadn't crashed last year and took all my email addresses with it. I wonder if Peggy and Rita and Nancy know about this place? I miss those grrrls, and I don't have their addies. And some boys, too. Anyone have email addies for PSB, Collector, or Zoetrope?
Sandy: Sun May 18, 03 at 09:38:11 PM (EDT) - Judi and Mary
Tomatoes are well underway here at Casa Goudie - HoS still resists the notion of zukes - wildflowers blossomed all winter - Judi, hope you can try out your seeds soon. Mary, want some personally harvested, mixed wildflower seeds from my garden? HoS has rehabilitated our weedpatch into a lawn - time to have a par-tay!
RTE: Sun May 18, 03 at 01:04:39 PM (EDT) - Shameless Plug

I'm in the market for a tiller..I looked at an old Troy-Bilt EconoHorse yesterday, didn't make a decision. But my bulbs are gorgeous this year, except for the tulips that got spotty because they were already budded by the April snow. I have to see a dr. about a spot on my arm, too. Until then I'm being careful about the sun. I did a project in Photoshop class -- portrait of my sister, with 10 arms, like Shiva, balancing car, church, family, dog, chickens, schoolbooks, etc. --- I think it could apply to you just as well! Hang in there.

Remember when our kids kept us that busy???? It all comes 'round again, doesn't it? Our David went down to the Coachella Valley Music Fest (the one Jones goes to) but just for one day. He flew in here late, slept over in his old room, and left right after pancakes with his friends. I'm grateful I got even that much time to chat..... sorry you missed yours altogether. Now might be the time to think about a pre-paid cell phone. No ongoing bills, just buy the bare-bones phone and purchase time in advance. It would be good to carry for those emergencies...
Judi: Thu May 15, 03 at 07:43:48 AM (EDT) - when it rains, it pours
And next week mom in law has eye surgery, so all 4 parental units need my help getting to dr appointments, grocery shopping, doing laundry and general well being. We looked in to home health services and that costs $50 per hr so by default I got the job for free. "Good deeds are their own reward" I keep telling myself. However it is going to be a lovely warm weekend, the leaves have just begun to open on the trees, and I plan to plant my garden this weekend, even before the last average frost date! I'm bold and brave and dying to work on the garden for my therapy. Mary, got a garden in yet? The hummingbirds have returned, my tulips are almost in bloom, ah sweet spring, and no black flies or mosquitoes yet!
Judi: Thu May 15, 03 at 07:34:20 AM (EDT) - old home daze
Good to see more of the good old folks returning to our little corner of the WWW. AKA, wasn't this the most awful long winter? I thought it would never end! And I usually love winter. I am also on a new laptop and it takes a while to get use to the keyboard, lack of mouse control, and a new OS. My monitor on my desktop finally bit the dust and we haven't found time to go looking for a new monitor so I was forced to use the laptop full time. As if taking care of my mom with her problems wasn't enough, on Mother's Day my father in law fell down and we spent the day with him at the hospital, and I missed a surprise visit from #1 son who had flown up from DC to see me! He flew in Saturday, spent Sat. evening with his brother and both boys planned to take me out for Sunday dinner, even made reservations at a posh place, but since I didn't know and we were at the hospital and they had no way of finding us, it all fizzled out and #1 son had to fly back home before we finally got home and got the message.

Aww, geez, I'msorry to hear about your mother's fall. My mom went through the same thing. (first knee surgery, then broken kneecap, then broken hip) She uses a Rollator walker now,and sometimes two canes (that scares the hell out of me, though). My sister got her a lift chair, and that helped during the recoveries.
Hang in there; her will is the biggest factor in recovery.

Bear with me- I finally got internet access again but it's on a laptop andI'mnot used to the keyboard.
The shift key is fussy.
How are you all? Tiki called me last weekand urged me to come in and say hi. It's been a rough several
months, and a depressing long winter, but spring is here and I'm starting to wake up out of a funk. I
figured,in my sad state, that you all wouldn't want to hear from me ...
I had my phone disconnected and am using Mom's line. Just a matter of cost. (Why pay $30/month to let
telemarketers call me?) I still have my mobile, though.
I hope you are all well, and I plan to see you in here more.

Diana Krall has aged well, I guess. She's only 10 yrs. younger than Mr. C. - he's 48, she's 38. Oh, and 48 doesn't seem like such an "old fart" anymore !!! :)

Got your shirt and poster. We had to line up outside the store behind a rope. I felt like I was in line for concert tickets! The store was closed most of the day to get ready. They had a DJ whose set-up consisted of two iPods on stands, a small mixing console and a couple of JBL speakers. Sounded pretty good, and he was doing some amazing things with the iPods. Lots of people there. Lots of gadget freaks, like me! And of course, I had to get the 30gig. Haven't opened it yet. My old one is for sale cheap. *wink wink*
Of course I wanted my TiBook fixed and the Genius Bar was closed for the evening. Will have to go to Pasadena store tomorrow. Bummer.
I will download some songs from the Apple music store. It's pretty neat. The music is in the new AAC format, which is supposed to be superior to mp3 (better sound and smaller files).
Tiki: Fri May 2, 03 at 10:28:57 PM (EDT) - One day...
I do want to put up pics... on the Penguin Palace ... for all to see... I has been one of those WALSTIB
thingies... Very nice of KD to check it out. I also want to put up a few pics of San Pedro...
I am still amazed that I live here...
In the morning, I pick up yet another Apple Think Poster to display in my reception area... Ansel Adams... from my Pro Framer....
Tiki: Fri May 2, 03 at 10:24:13 PM (EDT) - Poogie
So... How was the event? Kicking mmyself in the rear for not jumping into my car and meeting you in Glendale, but alas... the office is a mess. After picking up the new desk for the extra office (this place had become a catch all for the office) I dragged all of the carp into the conference room. I hate throwing stuff away, but I am on a tear...
But the place (the 2nd private room) looks so kewl now. Hmmmmm, wondering when I am going to be able to buy the next G4 to put on the brand new desk... teee heeee
Poogie: Fri May 2, 03 at 01:50:33 PM (EDT) - Tiki
Are you there??? Tried to give you a ring. Going to the iPod debut tonight. Would you like me to pick you up a T-shirt?
Wanna take bets if I get a new one? ;-)
