Tiki: January 20, 2007 - RTE
Yep, I will get it back up... But it has to be in a new directory...
Give me a day or so and hit the gp s i t e m a p for the new spot where this will live
Tiki: December 29, 2006 - Hmmmmm...
Ok maybe I have changed my mind...
Oh, Susannah - James Taylor
Well I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee
And I'm bound for Louisiana, my own true love for to see
It did rain all night the day I left
The weather was bone dry
The sun was so hot I froze myself
Susanne, don't you go on and cry
I said, Oh, Susannah
Now, don't you cry for me
As I come from Alabama with this banjo on my knee
Well I had myself a dream the other night
When everything was still
I dreamed that I saw my girl Susanne
She was coming around the hill
Now, the buckwheat cake was in her mouth
A tear was in her eye
I said, that I come from Dixie land
Susanne, don't you break down and cry
I said, Oh, Susannah
Now, don't you cry for me
'Cause I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee
Tiki: December 29, 2006 - Hmmmmm...
Well it was a good run. But I have noted no one gives a darn if this board lives or dies.
I take full blame for the spam bots bouncing in. I have some thoughts, how to make it good,
but alas, what is the point. No one cares.
np: Jorma Kaukonen - Maxs Corner Cafe - 10/11/87 - "I am the light of this world"
Good Night Moon!
Tiki: Mon Dec 25, 06 at 11:41:14 PM (EST) - Merry XMas Everyone
Sorry, that I had to keep the board off the charts. I can not allow this carp to be on my site. I am playing around with the bots, to see what they have and how to beat them. If need be you all will just have to do one click extra, to get to the board.
Well, here we are in Loxley, Alabama (1/8 of a mile outside city limits). I am blown away at the speed we are getting with our DSL (being in the woods). Just ping'd my source and averaged 2.44 Mbps. Yowzer!
Most days I hit 2.5.... Now the happy, happy, joy, joy. Wiring up this house with cat 5. Looks like a crawl under the house. ACK!
Well lets see how smart the spam bots are. More of our adventure to follow.
Tiki: Fri Dec 1, 06 at 08:36:45 PM (EST) - Sorry Everyone...
But the next 2 weeks are going to be insane.
And I do not have the time to bounce these idgits (Spammers) off the board everyday. Ergo, this board will
be out of operation until December 15.
Talk to you when I hit Loxley.
Tiki: Tue Nov 28, 06 at 04:46:20 AM (EST) - Odds and Sods
Just got back from a going away thingie to say goodbye to a few old and dear friends at the
322 in Sierra Madre. Universal Congress of played a very tight set. Joe Biaza and
company still rocks.
The place rocks, good food and beer. If you are ever around Pasadena, check the place
out!
Sorry about the Spammers, I am tracking them and their proxys and adding them to the list.
As in banned, and they will be sent to www heck. Waste of time idgits, as I have put this
PAGE back in the non rotation (robots.txt) for the legit search engines to index, so your
spam will not get you anything. I can remove your carp every morning. Takes me a minute.
Well how about my USC Trojans!
Tiki: Mon Nov 27, 06 at 08:47:58 PM (EST) - UnSpammer
Oh My... Judee Sill???
Have not heard that name in years...
If I recall, Heart Food was a pretty good album.
UnSpammer: Sun Nov 26, 06 at 09:27:22 PM (EST) - Seance Input Wanted
Was thinking of holding a seance, to contact
the spirit of Judee Sill.
I have my questions, but are there any others
that should also be asked?
Tiki: Sun Nov 5, 06 at 11:02:51 PM (EST) - That mp3
Was recorded during a KSCA doohickie at a coffee house with Nichole and Chuck Feb 1996. So all that noise in the background is from Caffine freaks. My Music Hall Tapes are Flawless.
Just wanted that to be noted...
Tiki: Sun Nov 5, 06 at 02:43:24 AM (EST) - Thomas More
Just dumped a 1/2 a trash can full of 1/4-inch magnetic mastering tape. I felt sorry about it for maybe 1
second. No one ever claimed it, doubt the music was worth saving. Happen to have a bunch of 1 inch and some
2 inch tape. In the trash it goes.
We are getting closer on the sample rate.
Yes, Nothing (digital) can touch my Thorens turntable or my NAC tape player, and my mod Dyno block amps.
I still use one of my 1997 9600 PowerMac's to capture / Aurora Igniter PCI card via SoundEdit 16.
As a whole I am not to much into digital enhancement. A good Audio tape will always shine. In this day and
age of folks telling me to PhotoShop a bad image, I say, you should have captured the shot the right way
at the time of the og shoot. Ergo, 80% of the live music (radio broadcast not included) ment that I had to be
at a gig hours before the Sound Check. This prep rewarded me everytime. Sometimes it was mic placement, sometimes
it was finding the right stereo patch on a board that I had never seen before.
Boxed up the thousands of tapes I made. Once I get to Alabama, maybe I will find time to get them on CD.
One thing that I know. I do capture make good mp3s with my analog > 9600 > my G5. Enjoy... After the move,
more to come. Here is something I captured a few years ago. Play it loud.
The City of Angels
Always liked Dar!
Tiki: Sun Nov 5, 06 at 02:28:14 AM (EST) - akageorge
Will get that out to you on Monday.
Thanks pookie!
Thomas More: Thu Nov 2, 06 at 06:28:08 PM (EST) - Thump! (Not Bump)
That was supposed to be "...hum rather than thump."
Damn, I've misquoted him, and he's such a perfectionist I know he'll be really pissed if he reads this.
Thomas More: Thu Nov 2, 06 at 06:23:09 PM (EST) - We Was Reunited! (as Pogo would say)
Nice to see some live yellowroomers! (Not that I've seen any dead ones lately.) RTE was alive, and he sings better than ever! I'll bet he's been practicing in the shower. And akaGeorge! More beautiful and all the way from Noo York to hang out real time in the YR. Dr. Larry, Sandy and HoSandy were there, too, and I brought my friends "Too Tall" Bill plus Ben and Marilyn, who are all yellowroomers at heart. In fact, it was TT Bill who first turned me on to KSCA with Nicole in the AM. Who remembers the name of the "straight man" who shared that shift in the early '90s?
I believe a good time was had by all. The food was excellent. I had lamb chops, in accordance with "The Maker's diet" which I'm trying to follow. I gave up pork, shellfish and bottom-feeders, white bread, white potatoes, white rice, and all bakery except whole-grain, sprouted-grain and sourdough breads. No table sugar, salt, catsup, etc.
And, naturally, none of those man-made non-foods like margarine or other partially-hydrogenated vegetable oils like corn, safflower, etc. Only pure extra-virgin coconut oil for cooking and pure virgin olive oil for sauces and dressings.
Like Marie said, "Let them eat steak!" I can have all the beef, buffalo, venison, poultry and fish (with scales) that I want.
I'm sorry that Tiki 'n Diane, treehaus, Jones, Nicole (?) and dr. drea couldn't make it. Maybe they all went to the Rib Trader in San Clemente with Nicole.
Did I tell you, I've discovered a new stimulant! No, not Viagra. It's a leaf that the Indians high in the mountains of Paraguay and Uraguay cultivated since ancient times. I've been drinking it for the past few years, and I thought it was just another herb tea.
But I found out recently that it's not tea at all. The Spanish name for it is "Yerba Mate'," and you can buy it in most health food stores. It's legal! No caffiene, but it contains some other alkoloids that perk you up without giving you the jitters. Do a Google and you'll see that it's actually good for you! I'm drinking some right now, in fact.
Tiki 'n Diane; Good luck with your move. We moved to Arizona over a year ago, and we're still unpacking. Problem is; both Sunshyne and I are pack rats!
np (on my 'puter): Rory Gallagher; "Early in the Morning" (Recorded live at My Father's Place, Roslyn NY 09-03-74)
Tiki; As you know, the quality of recorded music is best from analog sources like vinyl or 1/4-inch magnetic tape. Right now I'm listening to a digital audio CD, which is not as good.
Sometimes I listen to compressed digital audio (MP3) stored on my computer, which is not as good as digital audio CDs.
No digital music format will ever be as good as analog, unless the sample rate approaches real time, and what you have then is a reconstructed analog signal.
A famous sound engineer told me this, and he also doesn't like sub-woofers. He said he prefers bass notes to hum rather than bump.
akageorge: Wed Nov 1, 06 at 02:45:37 AM (EST) - Find me
I'm still me at yahoo.
akageorge: Wed Nov 1, 06 at 02:45:12 AM (EST) - Me first!
Tiki -- could you send me your new address? I have a housewarming gift for you and might as well send it on to the new place so you don't have to transport it. Oh, and when will you actually settle in?
